Questions About this Website…
February 11th, 2006 the log
So, how do you know who posted what? (like, where’s the “posted by” info?) Is it just going to be a secret who these people are (summit, little pepper). I think I know who summit is. I bet you guys can’t guess who “logandance” is! I think this website will become a really great site when people start using it a lot. How do we get people to start using it?
-logandance
Partial Answer:
Peoples names (summit, little pepper, logandance) are up to the individual. If you log on and go to the tab “User.” you will see options to change your nickname. This is the name used for for your postings and such. Some people might want to remain anonymous (think Batman) for security or because they cn’t spel ghood. I’m trying to work on making the “posted by” info more available but I might have to go in an change the source code for that. But I think that people should at least see the nickname of the person posting.
As far as people using it, I’m up for ideas. I think club involvement is a good place to start. I am also going to start sending emails along the lines of “Did you do anything cool this weekend? Write about it!” or do some sort of “Favorite Trip Ever” competition and the winning post gets to be on the home page. Stuff like that. Please, if you have any ideas, do tell.

Good news. It was actually pretty easy to fix the source code so that the author name appears. Now you can see who posts what according to their nickname (if they don’t have a nickname I think it defaults to their user name.)

Kevin,
Sounds great! We will give 1 free tee shirt to the winner of the favorite trip competition. Their choice of size, color. Hey, can we get a login link on the home page? Just wondering.
