Mt. Timpanogos in Winter
February 13th, 2006 Little Pepper
I am planning on hiking Timp in a couple of weeks. I have climbed it in the summer and was wondering if someone knew what the best route is in the winter. Also, should I bring the crampons, or are snowshoes satisfactory? Any advice would be welcome. Thanks!

Hi “little pepper,” I am hoping to climb it in a week or two as well! There’s a route called “everest ridge” that goes up from the Mt. Baldy saddle; but I haven’t done it. You start at the Dry Creek Canyon trailhead that’s at the east end of 2000N in Orem. The route is traced out on a picture at Hansen Mteering; the serac club does it every year. Crampons or snowshoes? depends on conditions. Ice axe? YES. Avi beacons nice to have. Shovel, YES.
